Decluttering & Organising in Orpington

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Room to park the car. If you could just get to the garage door.

Orpington sits in the London Borough of Bromley but feels closer to Kent than to the city, with a suburban, green character shaped by direct trains into London Bridge in around 20 minutes and easy access to open countryside on its doorstep. Its roots go back to Roman times, evidenced by the Crofton Roman Villa, but most of today's housing dates from the town's rapid growth as a commuter suburb after the railway arrived in 1868: Victorian and Edwardian villas around The Knoll and Bark Hart, well-built 1930s semis in Crofton and Poverest with bay windows and decent gardens, and practical post-war family housing further out. Competitive grammar schools keep demand for family homes here consistently high.

Whatever era the house, the pattern tends to repeat: a family that moved in for the space and the schools, and a garage, loft or spare room that's slowly absorbed everything that didn't have an obvious home elsewhere.

Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising services in Orpington, with individual, face-to-face sessions at £45 per hour and virtual sessions available from £75.

What Happens During A Session?

During the discovery call, we will decide whether a four- or seven-hour session is best to start. On the day itself, we'll have a quick chat about the area or areas that are causing you the most stress and devise a plan for the day. We'll work through your belongings systematically, and I will help you to make decisions about whether to keep or let go of items until we are at a point where the belongings you are keeping are both meaningful and manageable.

Once that is done, we talk through how you have tried to organise before, and what hasn't worked and why, before we start to work through potential solutions. When we've worked out a plan that will work for you, we implement the solution so that your space is organised and sustainable.

Two Jobs, Done Together

Decluttering is a systematic approach to reducing the amount of belongings in your home, so that what is left can be organised in a way that will be easy for you and your family to maintain.

No two homes, two people, or two families are the same, so I tailor the balance of the two to your situation, rather than offer a one-size fits all approach.

Why Choose Me?

Before this work, I spent two decades in humanitarian crisis response, which is where the OBE and Honorary Doctorate came from. My own diagnoses came later: ASD at 51, ADHD at 53. Between the professional grounding and the lived experience, I've learned what actually helps when a situation feels unmanageable — breaking it into pieces small enough to act on, rather than expecting anyone to tackle it all at once. Having navigated my own executive function struggles, disorganisation is never something I'll hold against you.

FAQs

Where do donated items go? I'll take standard donations away to charity shops such as Demelza, Cancer Research, Oxfam, the YMCA or St. Christopher's on the High Street, or arrange collection at no extra charge.

Who makes the decisions on what stays and what goes? You do, every time. I'll ask questions and offer a perspective, and occasionally push back gently if something looks like habit rather than need, but the decision is always yours.

What storage solutions will you use? I can work with storage you already have, or make use of leftovers, and I may also bring some of my own stock, boxes, baskets, dividers. If you use any of mine, they're added to your invoice at retail price plus a handling fee.

How long does each session last? Sessions are for a minimum of four (4) hours, up to seven (7) hours and cost £45 per hour. Full details on how sessions work can be found on the Services or Decluttering and Organisation Page
