ADHD-Friendly Decluttering & Organising in London
I don't just say I'm ADHD-friendly. Here's what that means in practice:
We work at YOUR pace
Some days you're full of energy. Some days decision-making feels impossible.
We adapt the session pace to match your capacity that day.
No pressure. No judgement about what you "should" be able to handle.
We keep decision fatigue in mind
Every item doesn't need a deep philosophical discussion.
We make decisions quickly "Does this serve you now? Yes or no?"
We stop before you hit overwhelm.
We create systems that work with ADHD, not against it
Visible storage (not hidden in labelled boxes you'll forget about)
One-step solutions (not multi-step filing systems you'll never maintain)
Forgiving systems (that survive chaos and still work)
Flexible routines (that adapt when life gets busy)
We address shame head-on
No judgement about what your home looks like
No explaining why you "let it get this bad"
No assumptions about your capabilities
Just calm, practical support
How sessions work (4 or 7 hours at £45/hour)
You choose either a 4-hour or 7-hour session. We'll check in regularly about your energy and adjust our pace accordingly.
In each session:
We agree on realistic outcomes (nothing overwhelming)
I make the decisions easy ("Keep? Donate? Bin?")
We create systems that match YOUR brain (not neurotypical aspirations)
We stop before burnout
We celebrate progress (even small wins matter)
No shame. No pressure. No pretending to be neurotypical.
Common ADHD Challenges We Tackle
Task initiation paralysis: You know what needs doing but can't start
Decision fatigue: Every item feels like a massive choice
Out of sight, out of mind: If it's in a drawer, it doesn't exist
Hyperfocus then crash: Intense organising sessions followed by complete burnout
Time blindness: Hours vanish whilst sorting one drawer
Emotional attachment: Everything feels important or meaningful
Shame spirals: "Why can't I just be like normal people?"
You don't need more advice. You need support that works with your brain.
You Already Know What You "Should" Do
The internet is full of organising advice. You've tried the colour-coded systems, the "one touch rule", the morning routines. And maybe they worked... for a few days. Then life happened, and everything fell apart again.
The problem isn't you. The problem is that most organising advice is designed for neurotypical brains, and yours works differently.
Decluttering v Organising and Why You Usually Need Both
Decluttering is reducing what's in the way. Organising is creating easy systems for what stays.
Most clients need a blend: we clear the bottlenecks, then set up simple systems you can maintain without constant effort.
Calm, experienced support — without judgement
Before founding Order From Chaos, I spent over two decades leading complex operations in high-pressure, humanitarian crisis management, and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD).
What that means for you is simple:
When things feel overwhelming, I stay calm
When decisions feel impossible, I bring structure
When chaos feels personal, I remove shame
I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to my work with you
You're not hiring someone to judge your home. You're hiring someone trained to bring order to complexity, gently, practically, and at your pace.
Local, Practical Donation Support
At the end of each session, we'll donate items to the local charity shop(s) you prefer.
Please note: Opening times and donation rules can change, so we'll double-check before drop-off.
What my ADHD clients say
"Jo was very kind and patient with me when she helped me put in systems, organise and tidy some key areas in my flat. Three years later the systems still work!"
— Sarah, London
"I tried a decluttering service before and honestly… it was awful. I felt judged, uncomfortable, and like I had to explain and justify myself constantly. Then I found Jo and what a difference. She's neurodivergent too, so she just got it. No awkwardness, no shame, no pressure. She was kind, encouraging, and totally non-judgemental — and really careful about pacing things based on what I could manage that day (which, for me, changes a lot depending on my health)."
— Trish, Croydon
"There is no house or storage problem that she can't tackle, and it's always beautiful, adapted to your needs and solution-focused."
— Lara, Walthamstow
