Decluttering & Organising in East Sussex
No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.
Transform your East Sussex Home
East Sussex is a county of considerable variety, from the energy of Brighton and Hove on the coast to the quieter market towns of Lewes, Uckfield, and Heathfield inland, and the historic character of Rye and Hastings to the east. The housing stock is equally varied: Regency and Victorian terraces in Brighton, substantial family homes in the commuter villages within reach of Gatwick and the London lines, and older stone or tile-hung properties in the more rural parts of the county. What connects them is that people tend to come to East Sussex to put down roots, and roots mean accumulation.
Many East Sussex households carry the particular weight of a home that has absorbed multiple life stages: children grown and gone, a parent's belongings folded in, a study that was supposed to be temporary five years ago. The county's distance from London also means that getting professional help can feel logistically complicated, but it isn't.
Order From Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across East Sussex with a calm, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach. Whether you’re in Lewes, Uckfield, or tucked away in a High Weald village, we work at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.
Who is this for?
Whether you're in Lewes, Wadhurst, Uckfield, or the villages of the High Weald, the pattern tends to repeat: family kitchens where meal prep feels like a danger zone, wardrobes stuffed with clothes that went out of fashion decades ago, spare rooms with nowhere for Granny to stay, home offices that aren't conducive to working efficiently, and garages so full you can't fit the car in. You might be a time-poor professional, executive or retiree wanting a calmer home, overwhelmed by the decisions needed to clear your space, living with ADHD/ASD, disability, chronic illness, perimenopause, or burnout, or preparing for a move, downsizing, renovation, or major life change.

What Happens During A Session?
Sessions run for a minimum of four hours, up to seven hours, at £45 an hour, wherever you are in the county. Letting go of what's not needed is the decluttering. Building systems and creating routines is the organising that helps ensure systems last.

Calm, experienced support — without judgement
I founded Order from Chaos in 2023 after having spent over two decades working in high-pressure, humanitarian crisis management responses for NGOs, the United Nations and governments. I was awarded an OBE in 2016 and an Honorary Doctorate in 2017 for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD), diagnosed in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Being late diagnosed means I have spent all my life devising systems that work to keep me organised, and I can now help you to do the same. I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches, as well as perimenopause-friendly approaches to my work, but they also work for neurotypicals.
If you want to find out more about my background, you can find it on the About page.
If I can, I always like to rehome or suggest how to repair items. I will take some items with life still left in them away with me at the end of the session and/or I can arrange for them to be collected from your door.

I will try to donate items to a charity shop near you wherever possible.
What clients say
I can't thank Jo enough. I'd had a home office sitting unused for ages because I could never work out how to set it up — and in a single 6-hour session she turned it around completely. She sorted my study, made a real dent in the bedroom wardrobe cupboards, and even got the kitchen going. I'm autistic and ADHD, and what meant the most was how kind and easy she made the whole thing — no judgement, no overwhelm, just patience and systems that actually fit how my brain works. She also took the time to really listen to both me and my wife, so the result works for both of us. Honestly so grateful. If you're neurodivergent and don't know where to begin, she's wonderful.
— Tim, Hove (ADHD)
