Decluttering & Organising in Surrey
No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.
Surrey is one of the wealthiest counties in the country, and the housing stock reflects that: substantial detached homes in the commuter belt towns, farmhouses and barn conversions in the rural stretches of the Weald, Georgian townhouses in Guildford and Farnham, and the kind of executive new-builds that have sprung up across the county over the past two decades. What connects them is space, and space, without a system to manage it, fills up. A six-bedroom house in Cobham accumulates differently from a terrace in Croydon, but the underlying pattern is the same: a home that has absorbed years of life and gradually run out of places to put things neatly.
Surrey households often carry significant complexity, decades of belongings, estates folded in from older relatives, and the particular challenge of a large property where the problem can hide in several rooms simultaneously.
Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Surrey with a calm, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach. Whether you’re in Epsom, Guildford, Weybridge, Ewell, Cobham, Esher, or Farnham, we work at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.
Does This Sound Like You?
A time-poor professional or executive who wants a calmer home and smoother mornings
Overwhelmed by the sheer volume of decisions when you come home after a long week
Living with ADHD/ASD, chronic illness, perimenopause, or burnout and need support at your pace
Preparing for a move, just moved and need help unpacking, preparing for a big renovation project, or simply tired at the end of the week and need help

Surrey Homes Scenarios
Whether you’re in Elmbridge, Guildford, Waverley, or the Surrey Hills commuter belt, the pattern is often similar:
Family kitchens where the meal prep zone is the size of a stamp
Wardrobes stuffed with clothes you don’t wear, ones you've never removed the tags from and ones you haven't seen in years
Spare rooms full to the brim of things that don't quite go anywhere else
Home offices that undermine productivity rather than supporting it
Garages and lofts full of items you can’t quite face sorting
How Do Sessions Work?
Decluttering is reducing belongings to a more manageable state Organising is creating easy storage or organisational systems for what remains.
Sessions are a minimum of 4-hours, up to a 7-hour session. In a typical session we:
Have a discussion about the area or areas you want to tackle during that session
Go through your items to categorise them, before going through them one by one to decide what you keep and what should go
Discuss what kind of storage or organisation you have tried before and why you think it failed, so that we can discuss ones that may work
Put systems in place or take steps to put them in place

Creating Order from Chaos
Before founding Order from Chaos, I worked in humanitarian response for over 25 years. I responded to everything from the tsunami in 2004, through a cyclone in Myanmar in 2008, floods in Pakistan in 2010, the Arab Uprising in the Middle East, and Ebola in Sierra Leone. After leaving work for the UK Government, I worked as a consultant for the United Nations and NGOs, before taking over as CEO of a UK NGO.
I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD).
What that means for you is:
I use my neurodivergence to understand chronic disorganisation and to help put systems in place that actually work
When decisions feel like too much, I encourage breaks to recharge
I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to my work
I also understand the challenges of perimenopausal/menopausal brain fog
Read more about my background on the About page.
I like to encourage sustainability as much as possible, through giving items a second life after they have left my clients' homes

If there is time at the end of each session, I will donate your items to a local charity shop, or bring them back to Croydon to give to charity shops near me.

Home Move Management
Surrey sits at the heart of the commuter belt, and that shapes how moves here tend to work. Train line proximity, school catchment areas, and getting everything done before term starts all add pressure to an already busy process, and a lot of moves get rushed because of it.
I help with the parts that get overlooked when time is tight: liaising with your removal company, overseeing packing, and unpacking properly so the new house works from day one rather than sitting half-organised for weeks. For larger Surrey properties, that often means more rooms, more storage to plan, and more decisions to make under time pressure than people expect going in.

What clients say
Jo has helped me tackle an overwhelming play room and also my ‘cupboard of doom’ full of kids arts and crafts. Everything has a home and is labelled beautifully!
I will definitely book another session soon.
Thanks Jo!
