Decluttering & Organising in Clapham

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Be Clutter-free in Clapham

Clapham is one of south London's most densely populated and energetic neighbourhoods, which means the homes are often working very hard. Victorian terraces and Edwardian semis dominate, many now divided into flats, with the larger family homes concentrated in the streets around Clapham Common and further south towards Abbeville Village. These are properties where the original layout was designed for a very different way of living: high ceilings, bay windows, and front rooms that flow into back rooms, with not much in the way of built-in storage anywhere.

Clapham households tend to be busy, full ones: dual-income professionals, young families, people in the middle of life transitions who haven't quite caught up with the admin of their belongings. The common thread is a home that's doing its best but needs a proper reset.

Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Clapham with a kind, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.

Are you a time-poor professional or family who wants less stress, fewer arguments and a smoother daily routine? Or are you overwhelmed by decisions that need to be made on what to keep, where to put it, what to do first and where to donate all that stuff you no longer need? Perhaps you are neurodivergent, living with ADHD/ASD, going through perimenopause, or experiencing burnout and need an accountability buddy to help you reach your goals. You may also be preparing for a home move, house renovation, new baby, or just unable to get going. If so, I can help you to declutter and regain your sense of calm.

Common Scenarios in Clapham Homes

Whether you’re in Clapham South, Clapham Common, Clapham North, Abbeville Village, Balham, Brixton or Stockwell, the pattern is often similar. Open-plan flats where clutter has nowhere to hide and where wardrobes are stuffed with clothes, some still with the labels attached. You may have a spare room that has become a dumping ground for ‘later’ decisions. And does working from home mean you have to put the background on for the videoconferencing calls so as not to show everyone the reality of your home office? Do you have a shared space where systems keep breaking down, causing tension, frustration and anger, and does your kitchen have every surface covered with things that shouldn't be there? If so, then I can help.

What's the Difference between Decluttering and Organising?

Decluttering is reducing what's getting in your way, and getting you down. Organising is creating easy systems for what stays, so that you can store and find things easily.

Most clients need both services.

You choose a four-hour or seven-hour session, at £45 an hour. On the day, we agree on the outcome for the day, categorising your belongings before deciding what stays and what goes in each category, so we know how much is staying and can get an idea of how to organise it appropriately. Then, we work out how best to organise things into their 'homes'.

No judgement, no pressure, no forcing. You stay in control of the decisions; I just help guide you there.

Lived Experience of Creating Order from Chaos

Before founding Order from Chaos, I led complex humanitarian operations in high-pressure crisis management for over 25 years, work which was recognised with an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Portsmouth. I'm AuDHD, so neurodivergence isn't theory for me; it's lived experience I bring into your home.

What that means for you is simple:

If you are fed up with the clutter in your home, then I can help. I help clients whose homes stress them out, working together to clear the items that are cluttering their minds and put systems in place to ensure their mind remains free of the stressors that clutter brings.

I will always endeavour to rehome your items in the most sustainable way possible. I am unable to take those items which are at the end of their useful life for disposal, but I can take up to five standard-sized rubbish bags of items that are still full of life. I can also arrange for items to be collected from your doorstep.

If time permits, I can drop them at Royal Trinity Hospice, Save the Children or Age UK on Clapham High Street, or Boutique by Shelter on The Pavement by Clapham Common.
