Decluttering & Organising in Clapham

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Be Clutter-free in Clapham

Clapham is one of south London's most densely populated and energetic neighbourhoods, which means the homes are often working very hard. Victorian terraces and Edwardian semis dominate, many now divided into flats, with the larger family homes concentrated in the streets around Clapham Common and further south towards Abbeville Village. These are properties where the original layout was designed for a very different way of living: high ceilings, bay windows, and front rooms that flow into back rooms, with not much in the way of built-in storage anywhere.

Clapham households tend to be busy, full ones: dual-income professionals, young families, people in the middle of life transitions who haven't quite caught up with the admin of their belongings. The common thread is a home that's doing its best but needs a proper reset.

Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Clapham with a kind, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.

Are you a time-poor professional or family who wants less stress, fewer arguments and a smoother daily routine? Or are you overwhelmed by decisions that need to be made on what to keep, where to put it, what to do first and where to donate all that stuff you no longer need? Perhaps you are neurodivergent, living with ADHD/ASD, going through perimenopause, or experiencing burnout and need an accountability buddy to help you reach your goals. You may also be preparing for a home move, house renovation, new baby, or just unable to get going. If so, I can help you to declutter and regain your sense of calm.

Common Scenarios in Clapham Homes

Whether you’re in Clapham South, Clapham Common, Clapham North, Abbeville Village, Balham, Brixton or Stockwell, the pattern is often similar. Open-plan flats where clutter has nowhere to hide and where wardrobes are stuffed with clothes, some still with the labels attached. You may have a spare room that has become a dumping grounds for ‘later’ decisions. And does working from home mean you have to put the background on for the videoconferencing calls so as not to show everyone the reality of your home office? Do you have a shared space, Shared spaces where systems keep breaking down, causing tension, frustration and anger and does your kitchen have every surface is covered with things that shouldn't be there? If so, then I can help.

What's the Difference between Decluttering and Organising?

Decluttering is reducing what's in the way. Organising is creating easy systems for what stays.

Most clients need both, decluttering to let go of the items that are choking our homes and organising to ensure that what is left, is stored well, can be found easily and contributes to a home that runs like clockwork.

How sessions work (4 or 7 hours at £45/hour)

You choose either a 4-hour or 7-hour session. In a typical session, we:

  • Agree the outcome for the day, e.g., 'sort the playroom', 'clear the loft' or 'get my car back in the garage'

  • Categorise, before deciding on what stays and what goes

  • Make plans for what happens with the things that go and for what stays

  • Reset the space so that you can function better at the end of the day

  • Plan the next small step so progress is maintained

No judgement, no pressure, no forcing. You stay in control of the decisions; I just help guide you there.

Calm, experienced support — without judgement

Before founding Order from Chaos, I spent over two decades leading complex humanitarian operations in high-pressure crisis management, responding to earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, etc., and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD), so I have lived experience of neurodivergence.

What that means for you is simple:

  • I guide you through the day

  • When decisions feel impossible, I help find out the why

  • I help remove the shame

  • I bring an ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approach to my work with my clients

I will always endeavour to rehome your items in the most sustainable way possible. I am unable to take those items which are at the end of their useful life for disposal, but I can take up to five standard-sized rubbish bags of items that are still full of life. I can also arrange for items to be collected from your doorstep.

St Christopher's Hospice is my charity of choice. If you're a UK taxpayer and would like to Gift Aid your donation, you can register directly with St Christopher's here and pass me your donor number to quote at drop-off.

If you are fed up with the clutter in your home, then I can help. I help clients whose homes stress them out, working together to clear the items that are cluttering their minds and put systems in place to ensure their mind remains free of the stressors that clutter brings.

What clients say

Thank you so much Jo for organising my kitchen- it is now beautifully organised and a total joy when I open up my cupboards! Jo turned up with storage solutions, a label maker and whizzed through the project with focus and enthusiasm. I highly recommend!!!
