Decluttering & Organising in Herne Hill
No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.
Herne Hill sits between Brixton and Dulwich and has the feel of a neighbourhood that knows exactly what it is, characterful Victorian terraces, a farmers' market, independent cafes, and a community of long-term residents who chose it for its village feel and never left. The housing stock is predominantly large Victorian semis and terraces, with high ceilings, bay windows, and the kind of original layout that was designed for a Victorian household's needs rather than a modern family's. Original features are plentiful; built-in storage is less so.
Herne Hill households tend to be creative, busy, and accumulate books, art, musical instruments, children's belongings, and the particular density of a home that's genuinely lived in. People here often have strong feelings about what they own and why; the challenge is less about letting go and more about creating a system that actually works for how they live.
Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Herne Hill with a kind, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.
Who this is for
Decluttering and Organising is for time-poor professionals or families who want to find the keys or homework easily and without any stress. It's for people who are struggling with how big the pile of clutter is and not knowing where to start or how to declutter and organise well. Decluttering and organising will work for you if you are living with disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, perimenopause, or burnout, where either your body or your brain needs a different approach to decluttering and organising than the standard fixes. If you are preparing to move home, to renovate, are expecting a new baby, or are downsizing and need to get on top of years of accumulated clutter, then this service is for you.

Common Scenarios in Herne Hill Homes
Whether you’re in Brixton, Tulse Hill, West Norwood, Dulwich, Streatham, or Clapham, the pattern is often similar:
Family kitchens which are drowning under clutter, or where there are wardrobes full of clothes you don't wear, can't wear or can't find. There may be spare rooms that haven't housed an overnight visitor for years or home offices that embarrass you on work video calls. You may find garages piled high with items you can’t quite face sorting, whilst the car is parked outside every night or paperwork and admin that has piled up for months, hiding important letters, unpaid bills and penalty charge notices.
Decluttering and Organising: Both are Necessary
Decluttering is reducing what's in the way. Organising is creating easy systems for what stays.
Most clients need a blend of both decluttering and organising; decluttering to help reduce the number of belongings you have in your space and organising to ensure that what remains is stored well, so that it is protected, you can find it, and you can use it.

How sessions work (4 or 7 hours at £45/hour)
You choose either a 4-hour or 7-hour session. In a typical session, we:
Discuss what is upsetting you most about your space
Work out a plan of action for the session
Work through what will stay and what will go
Create sustainable storage and organisation systems that work for you and your family

Calm, experienced support — without judgement
Before founding Order from Chaos, I spent over two decades leading complex operations in high-pressure humanitarian crisis management, and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD).
What that means for you is simple:
I've spent years managing crises
I have had to develop systems to keep myself organised, which I can now apply to your situation
I understand executive dysfunction from the inside, and my autism means I am great at putting things in order.
I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to all my work, whether you are neurodivergent or neurotypical, because they work.

WOW thanks Jo. I hadn’t realised how much the clutter in my house was weighing me down. You did a great job, leaving not only my house clearer, but also my mind clearer and my mood uplifted. I have now saved a lot of money on Therapy!
