Decluttering & Organising in Streatham

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Streatham is a long, diverse high road with a series of genuinely distinct residential pockets on either side of it: the larger Victorian and Edwardian semis on the roads towards Streatham Common, the more compact terraces closer to the high street, and the quieter streets of Streatham Hill and Streatham Park, where the housing stock is more substantial. It's a neighbourhood in transition, attracting a growing number of young professionals and families priced out of Clapham, Balham, and Dulwich, alongside a well-established longer-term community. The result is a real mix of households, but the underlying accumulation challenge tends to look similar across all of them.

Victorian and Edwardian properties dominate, with the storage challenges that come with that: high ceilings, bay windows, and not much in the way of built-in storage anywhere. A busy household fills a Streatham terrace quickly.

Order From Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising in Streatham with a calm, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that actually works for you. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.

You Might Be:

A time-poor professional or family who wants to be able to get out the door in the morning without stress or panic, or always running late

Overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff in your home and don't know where to start

Living with ADHD/ASD, chronic illness, perimenopause, executive dysfunction or burnout and needing support from someone who works at your pace to clear clutter

Preparing for a move, renovation, new baby, or simply tired of ‘starting again every weekend’

Does This Sound Like Your Home?

Whether you're on Streatham Hill, Vale or near the Common, or in the streets towards Norbury, the pattern is often similar:

Large family homes where every room has gradually taken on too many functions

Kitchens where meal preparation is obstructed by stuff

Wardrobes and spare rooms that are overdue for a proper sort

Home offices that were never quite organised for working from home

Garages and loft spaces containing years of 'I'll deal with that later' decisions

How Does It All Work?

Decluttering is reducing belongings

Organising is creating functional systems for the items you keep.

It is usually necessary to declutter before organising, so that excess, unwanted items are removed before a decision can be made on the right storage or organisational solution

We work out whether a 4-hour or 7-hour session would work, and in a typical session we:

  • Talk about your objective for the session and decide on a priority area or areas

  • Put all items of one category together, so we can sort through them easily

  • Discuss what is going and what is staying

  • Define and refine what storage solutions will work for your brain

No judgement, ever

How I Can Help

Before founding Order from Chaos, I spent over twenty years responding to humanitarian emergencies worldwide, and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD (AuDHD) later in life, meaning that I understand chronic disorganisation and how to create systems that work, as well as being able to work systematically and doggedly in crises. I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to my work with both neurotypical and neurodivergent people. Those approaches work for both, as well as for those going through perimenopause/menopause.

What clients say

I am so grateful to Jo for her help in decluttering my room. As anxious as I was at the start, she was very warm and friendly. What I felt would be overwhelming and difficult turned out to be very easy and satisfying as we worked through together. She was very gentle and understanding in some of the moments where I struggled, but turned what would have been a hard job into something that was almost fun, where we could also have a chuckle. She also helped me understand and see how i can maintain the new space with minimal effort. it was definitely worth it as I have reclaimed my space again and am so happy with the outcome.

When your belongings are good enough to be useful to someone else, I will always make sure they can be loved again. If I think they can be repaired, I may be able to take them to the local Repair Cafe.
