Decluttering & Organising in Dulwich

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Dulwich Home: Heaven or Hell?

Dulwich is one of south London's most established and desirable addresses, a village within the city, with a picture gallery, a private estate, excellent schools, and housing stock to match. The larger houses on the Dulwich Estate are some of the most substantial family homes in inner south London, with generous rooms, period features, and gardens that extend back a long way. Even the terraces in East Dulwich are solidly built Victorian properties with above-average space by London standards.

With space comes accumulation, and with long-term residency comes layers. Dulwich households often contain a full family's worth of belongings across multiple stages of life, including children's things, collections, inherited furniture, and rooms that have changed purpose several times over. The quality of the belongings tends to be high; the challenge is curating them.

Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Dulwich with a kind, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.

Whether you are a time-poor professional, family or retiree who wants a calmer home, less stress and more time to do what you want, I can help.

If you are overwhelmed by decisions before you've even begun, then I can help you break through.

You may be disabled or have a chronic illness which is preventing you from progressing, or you may be neurodivergent or going through perimenopause, which has affected your executive function and so decluttering is a challenge. That is where I can offer support to work through the clutter step by step.

If you are preparing to downsize, to renovate, having a baby, or are bereaved and need someone to help you through this stressful time, then I can help.

Common Scenarios in Dulwich Homes

Whether you’re in Dulwich Village, West Dulwich, East Dulwich, Herne Hill, Crystal Palace, Sydenham and Forest Hill, the pattern is often similar:

Family kitchens where meal prep feels like an obstacle course

Wardrobes stuffed with clothes you don’t wear or have never worn

Spare rooms that have become dumping grounds

Home offices that undermine your focus rather than supporting it

Garages and hallways piled with items you can’t quite face sorting

Children’s toys and artwork that have taken over every surface

Decluttering v Organising and Why I Recommend Both

A session is four or seven hours at £45 an hour, and does two things: decluttering, which clears what's in the way, and organising, which builds a system for what's left so it stays workable. Dulwich's period houses often have plenty of charm and very little built-in storage, so the organising side usually carries more weight here than in a newer build. You tell me what we're working towards for the day, I sort without letting decisions pile up, fit storage around how you live rather than how a house should look, and leave the room usable straight away. Before I go, we settle on the next small step, so the work keeps paying off after I've left..

Calm, experienced support — without judgement

Before founding Order from Chaos, I spent over two decades leading complex operations in high-pressure, humanitarian crisis management, and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD), diagnosed in 2023 and 2025. What that means is that I have spent my life devising systems that work for brains that work differently.

This means

  • I understand executive dysfunction and why some people find it harder to keep organised

  • I am good in a crisis

  • I love order; I'm happy putting things in boxes with labels

  • I bring an ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly lens to my work with you

I love to keep things out of the landfill. I will advise on how to recycle items and how to safely dispose of those items that are at the end of their useful life. If I can, I will try to repair items so that they can give someone else joy.

What clients say

Thank you so much Jo for organising my kitchen, it is now beautifully organised and a total joy when I open up my cupboards! Jo turned up with storage solutions, a label maker and whizzed through the project with focus and enthusiasm. I highly recommend!!!
