Decluttering & Organising in Blackheath
No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.
Transform your Blackheath home from 'I can't cope' to calm
Blackheath is the kind of place people move to and never leave. Perched on the edge of the heath with views across to Canary Wharf, it draws professionals and families who want a village feel within reach of central London, and they tend to stay for decades. The housing stock is characterful: Georgian terraces, large Victorian semis, Edwardian conversions, and the occasional Arts and Crafts house tucked into the residential streets behind the standard. These are homes with period features, high ceilings, and an original layout that wasn't designed with twenty-first-century storage in mind.
Blackheath households often accumulate in interesting ways, such as books, art, inherited pieces, and the sheer volume of belongings that comes with children, creative interests, and a home you genuinely love spending time in. The challenge isn't usually a lack of care; it's a lack of system.
Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising across Blackheath with a kind, non-judgemental, ADHD-friendly approach, working at a pace that fits your life and your brain. Individual, face-to-face sessions are £45 per hour, and virtual sessions are available from £75.
Who this is for
You might be:
A time-poor professional or family who wants a calmer home, less stress and more time for relaxing
Overwhelmed by where to start, what to keep, where to put it, or how and where to donate your belongings
Living with ADHD/ASD, chronic illness, disability, perimenopause, or burnout and needing a little extra help
Preparing for a move, renovation, new baby, downsizing or simply need an accountability buddy to work through it with you

Common Scenarios in Blackheath Homes
Whether you’re in Blackheath Village, Lee, Kidbrooke, Hither Green, Greenwich, Lewisham, Charlton and Eltham, the pattern is often similar:
Large family homes where clutter has spread across every room
Wardrobes stuffed with clothes you haven't seen or worn in years
Loft and garage spaces that have become dumping grounds
Home offices that undermine your focus rather than supporting it
Hallways which are piled with items dumped by the family when they come home
Kitchens and dining rooms where you can't fit the chopping board because everywhere is covered
Decluttering v Organising and Why You Usually Need Both
Decluttering is reducing what's in the way. Organising is creating easy systems for what stays.
Most clients need a blend: we clear the bottlenecks, then set up simple systems you can maintain without constant effort.

How sessions work (4 or 7 hours at £45/hour)
You choose either a 4-hour or 7-hour session. In a typical session we:
Agree the outcome for the day (e.g., 'functional kitchen', 'calm bedroom', 'paperwork triage')
Sort fast, keeping decision fatigue in mind
Create storage and 'homes' that match your habits
Reset the space so it's usable immediately
Plan the next small step so progress sticks
No judgement, no pressure, no forcing. You stay in control of decisions, I bring structure, momentum and calm.
Drowning in Paperwork?
If you are struggling to open your mail or have bags and boxes of backlogged paperwork, I can help. Together, we clear the backlog, cancel subscriptions, change addresses, renew insurances, etc. I do the admin, so you don't need to, including doing the filing, creating systems that are easy and which you can maintain.

Calm, experienced support — without judgement
Before founding Order From Chaos, I spent over two decades leading complex operations in high-pressure, humanitarian crisis management, and I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate for this work. I have ASD and ADHD (AuDHD).
What that means for you is simple:
When things feel overwhelming, I stay calm
When decisions feel impossible, I bring structure
When chaos feels personal, I remove shame
I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to my work with you
You're not hiring someone to judge your home. You're hiring someone trained to bring order to complexity, gently, practically, and at your pace.

Local, Practical Donation Support
At the end of each session, I’ll donate items to the local charity shop(s) you prefer. Popular options include Mary’s Living & Giving for Save the Children, Age Exchange, Boutique by Shelter, and Oxfam.
Please note: Opening times and donation rules can change, so we'll double-check before drop-off.

What clients say
Jo is an absolute lifesaver. We had so much clutter in our front room it was impossible to sit down, but Jo helped us sort it all out in a matter of hours and even drove my mum to the charity shop to drop of multiple bags. She was also very kind, understanding and thorough and the whole process was much calmer because of her. Will definitely be hiring her again to sort out the rest of our house. She was worth every penny. Thank you so much, Jo!
