Decluttering & Organising in Purley

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

Transform your Purley Home

Purley sits at the southern end of the London Borough of Croydon, where the urban density of the borough gradually gives way to something that feels much more like Surrey, with wide residential roads, large detached and semi-detached homes, mature gardens, and a settled, family-oriented community. The housing stock is predominantly interwar and postwar, with generous rooms and the kind of double garage or large loft that accumulates belongings gradually over the years. It's a place where people stay, and the longer they stay, the more the home reflects the full arc of their life.

Purley households often combine multiple layers of belongings, gathered throughout many years, and sometimes the belongings of an older relative whose estate has come home to roost. The scale can feel daunting, but it responds well to a calm, structured approach.

Order from Chaos provides professional decluttering and organising services in Purley, with individual, face-to-face sessions at ÂŁ45 per hour and virtual sessions available from ÂŁ75.

Who this is for

You might be:

A family managing multiple demands and losing the daily battle with clutter

Anyone living with ADHD, perimenopause, or overwhelm who needs a pace that works for them

Common Scenarios in Purley Homes

Many Purley clients have:

Family homes where clutter has spread across multiple rooms, and no single clear-out has ever tackled the whole picture

Garages and loft storage that have not been properly sorted since the last house move — and possibly the one before that

Home offices are buried under paperwork, cables, and the equipment of previous work-from-home setups

Children's rooms and playrooms that have outgrown every storage solution tried so far

Wardrobes that contain three different sizes and two different decades, making getting dressed feel like a daily defeat

Decluttering v Organising - Why Both?

Decluttering means fewer things standing between you and a working room. Organising means what's left has somewhere sensible to live. Larger Purley houses in particular often need both stages done properly, not a quick tidy that unravels within a fortnight.

How sessions work (4 or 7 hours at ÂŁ45/hour)

You'll choose a four-hour or seven-hour session, at £45 an hour. Before I start, you tell me what “done” looks like for the day, a spare room you can walk into, a wardrobe you can see into, or a hallway that isn't an obstacle course. I move quickly through sorting, watching for the point where too many decisions start to wear you down. Storage gets built around your habits, not a Pinterest board. The space is left usable the moment I leave. We close with one small, realistic next step, agreed together, so things keep moving after I've gone.

Calm, experienced support — without judgement

Before founding Order from Chaos, I spent over twenty years working in humanitarian emergency management, responding to hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, etc. For this work, I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate. I have both ASD and ADHD (AuDHD).

What that means for you is simple:

  • When things feel overwhelming, I stay calm under pressure

  • When decisions feel impossible, I help guide your thoughts

  • I bring ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly approaches to my work with you. Whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent, these approaches work well for people who experience challenges with organisation

FAQs

What if I've got a large detached property? That's the norm in Purley, and it's exactly the kind of job I do most. Larger homes will usually need longer and/or more sessions.

Where can donated items go locally? Purley has charity shops along Brighton Road, plus larger options in nearby Croydon if there's a bigger clear-out involved. I'll handle the drop-off or arrange collection either way.

Can you work around school drop-off and pick-up times? Yes, sessions are scheduled around what works for your day, not the other way round.

At the end of the session, I will take up to five standard-sized rubbish bags and/or arrange collection from your doorstep

St Christopher's Hospice is my charity of choice. If you're a UK taxpayer and would like to Gift Aid your donation, you can register directly with St Christopher's here and pass me your donor number to quote at drop-off.

What clients say

Jo is honestly one of the most trustworthy and reliable people you could ever invite into your home. She has such a calm way about her that just puts you at ease straight away. There’s no judgement, no pressure… you just feel comfortable. What I really love is that she cares about doing things in a way that actually works for real life, not just something that looks good for a moment. She’s amazing at what she does but more than that, she’s just a genuinely lovely person. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
