Decluttering & Organising in Sutton
No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.
A town centre in transition. A home that could do with the same.
Sutton sits right on the border of south London and Surrey, and it feels like it: a settled, well-planned town with a busy high street, four conservation areas of Victorian and Edwardian housing, and residential streets that are quieter once you're off the main roads. The town centre itself is mid-regeneration, with new developments replacing older 1970s stock, but the surrounding housing is a mix: Victorian terraces near the centre, 1930s semis further out, and a run of newer flats close to the station for people who want the commute without the upkeep. Cheam Village, technically part of Sutton, adds its own pocket of Edwardian character and period conversions on top of that.
That variety means the clutter problem looks different from street to street. An older terrace usually has charm and not much built-in storage. A newer flat may have more storage than space to put anything in it. Either way, Sutton draws a broad mix of families, downsizers and professionals commuting into central London, all of whom eventually hit the same wall: a home that made sense on moving day and doesn't quite any more..

What Happens During A Session?
Sessions are four or seven hours, at £45 an hour. We start by naming what you actually want fixed by the time I leave: such as a kitchen worktop you can use, a hallway you're not tripping through, or a wardrobe you can finally close. From there I sort steadily, breaking the work into stretches so decision fatigue doesn't creep in and stall things. Whatever earns its place gets a home that suits your actual routine, not a display shelf. You're left with a space that works the moment I go, and before I leave, we settle on one realistic next step so the change has legs.

Two Jobs Not One
Decluttering is thinning out what's crowding the room. Organising is giving what remains somewhere sensible to live. Sutton's mix of Victorian terraces, 1930s semis and newer flats near the town centre means the balance between the two shifts from house to house, older terraces usually need more organising to make up for storage that was never built in, while newer flats often need more decluttering simply because there's less room to hide things.
FAQs
Where do donated items go? If time allows, I'll take donations to one of the charity shops on Sutton High Street, including the British Heart Foundation, or arrange collection at no extra charge. Otherwise, I will donate to a charity shop near me.
What storage solutions will you use? I can work with storage you already have, or make use of leftovers, and I may also bring some of my own stock, boxes, baskets, dividers. If you use any of mine, they're added to your invoice at retail price plus a handling fee.
How long will it take? That depends on how much you have, and how quickly decisions get made together. Sessions run a minimum of four hours and a maximum of seven per day, and I'll always give an honest estimate on the discovery call.
Sessions run 4–7 hours at £45/hour. For full details on how sessions work, see the Services page.

Always Creating Order from Chaos
My working life before this had two very different chapters: first in investment banking across emerging markets, then over 25 years in humanitarian emergency response, work that led to an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate. I was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD (AuDHD) later in life, which explains a lot in hindsight. In practice, that means I stay steady when a situation feels chaotic, and I lean on ADHD-friendly and neurodivergent-friendly ways of working throughout. Whatever state your home is in, judgement doesn't come into it.
