Decluttering & Organising in Reigate

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

A Market Town With History. A Spare Room Stuck in 2019

Reigate is an affluent, historic market town at the foot of the North Downs, with a High Street that still has a mix of independent boutiques and traditional pubs rather than a run of the same chains you'd find everywhere else. The housing reflects that history: timber-framed and thatched cottages, Georgian and Victorian villas, and a high proportion of owner-occupiers who've made a deliberate choice to live here and tend to stay for the long haul. That settled character is part of the appeal, but it also means a lot of Reigate's period housing predates any thought of fitted wardrobes or a proper utility room.

What Happens During A Session?

Sessions are four or seven hours and cost £45 an hour. Before I start, you tell me what a good day looks like, such as a study you can actually work in, a kitchen you can cook in without a major overhaul first, or a spare room that's stopped being a dumping ground.

First we categorise your belongings, and then we work together to make the decisions that are needed to get you back the home you want. Once we know what is staying, we work through systems and storage that work for your brain, so that they can be easily maintained once I have gone.

Two Separate Jobs

Decluttering is the process of systematically reducing the number of belongings you have, so that they are more manageable for the space you have. The organising bit is all about finding out what systems, storage and processes facilitate storing your items and then actually being able to find them again when you need them.

FAQs

Where do donated items go? Reigate's town centre has a good spread of charity shops; I'll take standard donations away or arrange collection at no extra charge.

Can I buy my own storage? Yes. If you'd rather source it yourself, I'll give you a precise list of what to get and where, so nothing's wasted.

Do I tidy up before you arrive? No, I need to see the whole issue as it actually is, so I can understand what's and isn't working for you.

Do you offer organising maintenance plans? Yes, I have a Monthly Organising Retainer (MORe) plan that costs £165 per month, with a minimum commitment of six (6) months. Find out MORe.

Sessions run 4–7 hours at £45/hour. Full details on how sessions work:

About Me

Prior to founding Order from Chaos, I spent 11 years creating order from chaos in emerging markets in banking, and then I spent the next 25 years creating order from the chaotic environments that arise after earthquakes, hurricanes, floods etc. That work earned me an OBE in 2016, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Portsmouth in 2017. Is Your Wardrobe Bursting at the Seams?

A wardrobe that's stopped working for you makes every morning harder. Clothes that don't fit, clothes you meant to repair, and your favourite clothes wedged in between so many other clothes, you feel like you will never find them again.

This all adds friction to a two-minute decision. Wardrobe organisation sorts what you actually wear from what you're keeping out of habit, and enables you to find and wear the clothes you love.

A 15-minute discovery call is free and the right place to begin. You can also find out more on the Wardrobe Organisation Page.

What clients say

Jo was FANTASTIC! She is completely non judgemental, friendly and super efficient. I had far too many clothes, including things that were three sizes too big. I now have an organised wardrobe with clothes I actually wear. Thank you.
