Decluttering & Organising in Kingston upon Thames

No judgement. Sustainable systems. Calm support.

A River View and a Hallway You Can't Get a Pushchair Through.

Kingston upon Thames is a riverside market town in South West London with one of the oldest market sites in England still trading daily in the town centre, direct trains to Waterloo in under half an hour, and a mix of housing that runs from Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Norbiton and Canbury to riverside apartments near the Thames and substantial detached houses in the Coombe area near Richmond Park.

Outstanding schools, including Tiffin School and Kingston Grammar, keep demand high across the borough, and families who move here for the schools tend to stay for the long run, which brings the same pattern that shows up in every long-settled town: storage that made sense on moving day and has since been outpaced by daily life.

What Happens In A Session?

We start with a chat to decide on your priority for the day and make a plan, such as having an organised kitchen where you can find your spices, or a hallway that isn't an obstacle course. We go category by category, deciding on what stays and what goes before discussing how you have tried to organise that area in the past and why it didn't work, so we can work out what will work and implement that solution.

Decluttering, then Organising

Decluttering clears what's getting in the way of having an organised and stress free home. Organising sets up a system for what you have chosen to keep and which has a place in your life. Kingston's mix of period terraces, riverside apartments and larger houses around Coombe each come with a different storage starting point, so the balance between the two depends on the property rather than a fixed formula.

Piles of Paperwork?

If you are overwhelmed by the thought of tackling your backlog of letters- some opened, some unopened, some stuffed in bags and some cluttering up the table in the hall, then I can help.

Together, we can tackle the backlog, cancel the subscriptions you signed up to and never cancelled, change your address, and renew your car, house, or pet insurance, etc.

I take charge of the admin, so you don't have to, including doing the filing and creating both offline and online/digital systems that are easy for you to manage.

Find out more on the Paperwork Management page.

Why Work With Me?

I've been creating order from chaos all my life, first in investment banking, then working in humanitarian emergencies, and now working in people's homes and offices. I was awarded an OBE and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Portsmouth for my humanitarian work.

I have both ASD and ADHD (AuDHD) and am post-menopausal. That means I've had a lot of practice turning large, overwhelming jobs into a series of small, manageable ones.

Whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent, I understand the executive dysfunction that leads to clutter and disorganisation, and I use ADHD-friendly / neurodivergent-friendly and perimenopause-friendly approaches to the way I work.

FAQs

Where do donated items go? If there is time after the session, I will drop off donations at one or more of Kingston's charity shops, such as Fight for Sight on Thames Street, Oxfam on the High Street, Princess Alice Hospice on Old London Road, or the British Heart Foundation in the Alderman Judge Mall. I can take up to five standard-sized rubbish bags away with me, and/or arrange a charity collection.

What do I have to do before you arrive? We will need some strong bin bags for rubbish, plus bags or boxes for recycling and donations, and have cleaning materials to hand.

Can I buy my own storage? I usually find clients have storage left over once the decluttering is done, but I also bring some of my own, just in case something I have works perfectly in your space. If you'd rather source it yourself, I'll give you a precise list of what to get and where, so nothing's wasted.
