Key Takeaways
If previous attempts at organising have not stuck, the problem is almost certainly the system, not you. Systems designed for neurotypical brains on good days do not work for everyone.
A Professional Organiser works alongside you; you make every decision. Nothing leaves your home without your say-so.
The 4Ds process (Declutter, Discard, Donate, Done and Dusted) gives every session a clear structure and a defined endpoint.
Specialist support for ADHD, autism, executive dysfunction, and perimenopause is built into the approach, not bolted on.
APDO membership, DBS clearance, and full insurance are the baseline credentials to look for when choosing a Professional Organiser.
If you've typed "decluttering services London" into Google recently, the chances are you're at a turning point. You've probably tried the books, watched the programmes, started several sort-outs that petered out by lunchtime. You know what a tidy home looks like in theory. The reality, however, feels like a different planet.
You're not alone, and, more importantly, you're not failing. You simply need a different approach. That's where Order from Chaos comes in.
What We Actually Do
Order from Chaos is a professional decluttering and organising service based in Croydon, covering London, the Home Counties, Surrey, Kent, and Sussex. I work with busy professionals, families, and individuals who are overwhelmed by their space, whether that's a kitchen that's become impossible to cook in, a home office that's swallowing your productivity, or a whole house that feels like it's closing in.
I'm not here to create a Pinterest-perfect showroom. I'm here to create a home that actually works for the way you live, the way your brain works, and the pressures on your time.
How a Session Works: The 4Ds
Every session follows the same four-stage process, worked through at a pace that suits you.
DECLUTTER
We start by getting everything out and visible. Most people are surprised by what they actually own, things that have been buried, forgotten, or taking up space for years unnoticed. This stage is about seeing clearly before making decisions.
DISCARD
Not everything that comes out needs to stay. We work through what is no longer serving you, the duplicates, the broken, the aspirational purchases, the things kept out of obligation rather than use. Every decision is yours. Nothing leaves without your say-so.
DONATE
What leaves your home should go somewhere useful, where possible. I identify the right routes, charity shops, community donation schemes, specialist organisations for tools, clothing, and household goods, so items reach people who need them rather than landfill.
DONE AND DUSTED
What remains goes back in with purpose and logic. Systems are set up for how you actually live, not how you think you should live. Labels, zones, and structures that the whole household can maintain, not just you on a good day.
Sessions run for a minimum of four hours. Most room-level projects take a full day. I work alongside you throughout, and you are never left to manage decisions alone.
Neurodivergent-Friendly by Design
One of the things that makes Order from Chaos different from other professional organising services in London is a specialist approach to neurodivergence. I work regularly with clients who have ADHD, autism or executive dysfunction, as well as women navigating the cognitive challenges of perimenopause, which can make even simple decisions feel impossible.
I developed my approach specifically for when executive function is compromised. Rather than overwhelming you with decisions, we break everything down into manageable steps that work with your brain, not against it. The result is systems you can actually maintain, not just on the day I leave, but for the long term.
No Judgement. Not Ever.
The most common thing I hear from new clients is some version of: "I'm so embarrassed about the state of my home." There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Clutter and disorganisation are not character flaws. They are, very often, the result of a life that's full, complex, and perhaps a little under-supported.
Jo de Serrano OBE DUniv spent 25 years coordinating humanitarian crisis responses around the world, including the Indian Ocean tsunami and the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. If there's one thing that background teaches you, it's that when people are overwhelmed, they need practical, systematic support delivered without judgement. That's exactly what comes to every session.
What Clients Say
"I tried a decluttering service before and honestly... it was awful. I felt judged, uncomfortable, and like I had to explain and justify myself constantly. Then I found Jo, and what a difference. She's neurodivergent too, so she just got it. No awkwardness, no shame, no pressure. She was kind, encouraging, and totally non-judgmental, and really careful about pacing things based on what I could manage that day. I felt safe, understood, and actually motivated, which is rare for me when it comes to this stuff. Highly recommend, especially if your brain doesn't work in a neurotypical way."
Trish, Selsdon · June 2025
"Jo is honestly one of the most trustworthy and reliable people you could ever invite into your home. She has such a calm way about her that just puts you at ease straight away. There's no judgement, no pressure, you just feel comfortable. What I really love is that she cares about doing things in a way that actually works for real life, not just something that looks good for a moment."
Tanya, Purley · April 2026
"Your calm, no-judgement approach made such a difference for our neurodivergent family. We felt completely at ease throughout, which isn't always easy to find. Highly recommend Jo to anyone who needs a compassionate, practical hand with their space."
Rosie, Epsom · May 2026

What Our Decluttering Sessions Look Like
Every client engagement begins with a free 15-minute discovery call to understand your situation, your goals, and whether we're the right fit for you. Face-to-face sessions are typically four to seven hours, working alongside you — not just for you — to declutter, sort, and put practical systems in place. I serve London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex, and the Home Counties.
Virtual decluttering sessions are also available via video call for clients across the UK and internationally, suitable if you want professional support but prefer to work in your own time and at your own pace.
Specialist Support
Not everyone comes to decluttering from the same starting point. Some clients are managing ADHD, autism, or executive dysfunction and have found that standard organising advice simply does not work for them. Others are navigating perimenopause and finding that decisions that used to be easy have become harder than they used to be. Others are dealing with a life transition — a bereavement, a move, a relationship change — and the home has become part of the weight they are carrying.
